Scotch College 1st XI vs  Trinity College
On: Friday, 15 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

Scotch travelled to Trinity for this all important fixture against a strong Trinity side.

Scotch won the toss and decided have a bowl on a wicket which was hard but had a good covering of grass.Scotch battled to contain Trinity and by the end of the day Scotch had bowled 62 overs and had conceded 193 runs for 5 wickets.32 boundaries were hit by Trinity batsmen which indicates we just didn't bowl tightly enough.

Morning of day 2 started slowly for Scotch, however an over in which 3 wickets fell helped curtail Trinitys batting and were all out for 244 in the end.Riley Waters bowled steadily as did Ben Parker claiming a couple of wickets a piece.

Scotchs reply started really well with Melville and Chew getting about the run chase with aplomb. However, a rather soft dismissal of Melville started a mini collapse where Scotch lost Simpson,Gale,Evans and Gilchrist for only a handful of runs.

Parker steadied the ship for a well played 20. Alex Chew played a superb knock of 87 off 238 balls. He was the rock of Scotch's innings and deserves a lot of credit for the way he went about his knock.

He was ably supported at the back end by Alex Osborne who made 19 off 100 balls.

Scotch were eventually dismissed for 181.

A disappointing result of course but the boys showed a lot of fight in getting to 181 in the end.
