Match Report
Scotch College Year 10A vs  Aquinas College
On: Saturday, 04 May 2019
Venue: at Home

The start of the game saw plenty of effort from Scotch but little balance as a team. Aquinas were able to control outside the contest, which meant when they won contested ball, they were able to take the ball away easily and put our defenders under immense pressure. Aquinas kicked 3 three goals early. There was no lack of effort from the Scotch boys, but we needed to work better as a team if we were going to match Aquinas. From half way through the first quarter to half time the game was a tight contest. If not for a sensational 50m torpedo on the the run from Raquell Bin Rashid in the second quarter, Scotch would have been goalless in the first half.

Down by 23 points at half time, Scotch needed to rally. Some minor changes on the field and a focus on fixing balance at stoppages saw Scotch start to match Aquinas inside and outside of the contest. Scotch were able to outscore Aquinas in the third term by 8 points and we were now within striking distance for the last term. Jack Kappinkoff, gave Scotch excellent use of the ball in attacking runs from defence. Scotch was getting on top of Aquinas and continually forcing them to turn the ball over. In a 3 goal to nothing last term, Scotch over took Aquinas in the last 2 minutes of the game with a goal to Ethan Frankle. This put Scotch 4 points in front and we held on to win what was a remarkable game with a spirited comeback!
