Scotch College 1st XI vs  Wesley College
On: Saturday, 14 Mar 2020
Venue: Away

Round 12 saw Scotch take on a very spirited Wesley team. Having lost the toss and asked to bat, Scotch started well again reaching 32 before the first wicket fell. As has happened many times before, Scotch lost a few wickets for not many runs and relied on Benji Melville to help get them out of trouble. He was eventually out for 32, which brought Nick Paganin to the wicket. He batted well and saw us at the close of play on 7 for 161. Scotch decided to bat for another 5 overs on Saturday morning, due dark skies overhead and the threat of rain. Paganin ended up 52 not out and showed what he is capable of.

Scotch bowled well and reduced Wesley to 6 for 75 at lunch. However, a great partnership by Kelley and Middlemas, took Wesley close to victory. A couple of wickets near the end saw the game in the balance with Wesley needing 10 runs to win, with an injured Oliver coming out to bat.

Middlemas finished the game with an exquisite cover drive and not long after reached a well-deserved ton. Credit must go to Wesley for the way they played the game and chased down the runs. Scotch tried hard but just couldn't get the result they were hoping for.
