The game started with a defensive mind set from both teams with minimal points being scored for the first quarter. The Hale team were winning out on rebounds, but couldn’t finish at the rim. Lachlan McGrath sparked the Scotch team with back to back strong drives and lay ups at the rack. Blake Costello hit Scotch’s first three pointer for the game and took a 2 point lead into the first break. The second quarter remained a tight tussle with both teams playing a tight defensive game. McGrath continued with his scoring opportunities, with the likes of Jayden Yang and Nathan Thomas helping tick the scoreboard over. Again, Costello hit a big three pointer to end the first half with a 7 point lead to the Scotch team. A halftime chat with Coach Jackson seemed to spark the Scotch team as they broke the game open in the third quarter. Co-Captains Harry Imison and Nathan Thomas, both played significant roles in leading the team to playing in the Scotch style of basketball. Liam Kiel had a purple patch scoring 10 of his 16 points in the third quarter. Blake Costello hit his third three pointer towards the end of the successful quarter. Scotch took a 21 point lead into the third quarter break. The Scotch team continued to play hard in the final quarter with young guns, Zavier McGillivray and Tom Lynch adding points to the Scotch total. Scotch eventually ran out with a 26 point victory. Harry Imison, Nathan Thomas and Liam Kiel were outstanding, particularly in the second half. Lachlan McGrath, Blake Costello and Jayden Yang were fantastic in their support of a solid team victory. Harry French, Charlie Bevan, Zavier McGillivray and Tom Lynch contributed to a total team effort and victory.
