Match Report
Scotch College 2nds vs  Hale School, Perth
On: Saturday, 09 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

We were a full team at Hale this weekend. We were 12 aside, with plenty of new players that made for a rich variation of rallies, playing styles and match ups. The side-line was abuzz, overall an exciting game to both watch and highly spirited. This team had played only a few matches together. The first set was very much won through the consistency. Hale played a good defensive game, pushing the ball back to us and forcing us to play. We loosened up in the second and started pushing back on Hale’s defence by making them play more through spikes from Cooper, Aiden, Ethan amongst others. Daniel playing as blocker blocked around 80% of the balls thrown up. Our defensive game perked up, with Nick Verryn, Nicholas Ashdown and Max Freedman playing with great courage to continue the rallies. Will Gander-Smith serving was great, pulling no fault and leading to a run of three points at one time in the game. In the end, Hale played well and got us 3-0.

Scotch was gelling very well as a team, and I look forward to their progress this season.
