Match Report
Scotch College 2nd XI vs  Hale School, Perth
On: Saturday, 15 Feb 2020
Venue: Away

In an unpredictable days cricket our game ended in a surprising draw. The game was abandoned by the umpires after we faced 26 overs.

Due to persistent drizzle, it was deemed too dangerous to bowl. I was keen for the game to continue but to no avail.

Hale recovered from being 1/0 to make a solid score of 199 all out.

Our fielding performance was mixed. We dropped too many catches and our ground fielding was inconsistent.

However, we did have a good last 10 overs to take 6/52.

Chris Michael took a superb outfield catch, with Max Bailey also taking a good catch at long-on. Richard Walton completed an excellent run out.

Bowling was also mixed.

Ned Gaffey( 1/28 off 10) and Max Bailey ( 1/18 off 6) were the tightest.

Nic Paganin picked up 3 late wickets to finish with 4/48 off 10 overs.

Once again we were under severe early batting pressure. At 6/45 off 11 overs, things were pretty grim.

An excellent unbroken partnership of 50 runs by Ethan Frankel and Lachlan Stephenson had us back in the game, till the umpires called the game off.

Despite the big task ahead, I was quietly confident we could go on and complete a great fightback win, as these two looked in complete control.

Weather and associated effects intervened and the game, unfortunately, ended in a tame draw.
